TO BE ADMITTED TO THE EXAMINATION YOU MUST:

§         Bring your enclosed admission ticket/letter to the examination site.

§         Bring a current photo identification with signature (Driver’s license, immigration card, passport, State of New York ID card, school identification card, work identification card, or recent notarized photograph with your signature in ink).  Your full name on your admission ticket/letter must match your full name on your signed photo identification.  Call CASTLE before the exam date if you have any questions concerning proper identification.  You will NOT be admitted without proper identification.

§         Report to your ASSIGNED examination site ON TIME.

§         CANDIDATES ARRIVING LATE WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE EXAM.  The National Council of Examiners for Engineering does not permit late admissions.  This policy will be strictly enforced.

 

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

§         Smoking is NOT permitted in the examination site.

§         Consumption of food and beverages is NOT allowed in the examination area.  You will be permitted to bring a bag lunch, but it must remain under your chair until you are dismissed for lunch.

§         Friends and relatives, including children, will NOT be allowed in the examination building.

§         You must exit the building immediately after you are issued an exit pass.

§         Come prepared to pay for parking.

§         Arrive EARLY due to limited parking.

 

PERMITTED AND PROHIBITED MATERIAL

NOTE:  Do NOT bring prohibited items to the examination site.   Prohibited material WILL BE confiscated.   Efforts will be made to return confiscated items to the proper candidate after the examination; however, CASTLE and the NYSED will NOT be liable for any lost items.

§         Devices or materials that might compromise the security of the examination or examination process are not permitted.

§         Communication devices, such as pagers and cellular phones are NOT permitted.

§         Electronic devices such as cameras, walkmans, radios, tape players, portable fax machines, calculator watches, reproduction equipment, or computers are NOT permitted.

§         PENCILS:  Mechanical pencils will be provided for you at the examination site.  You may NOT bring your own writing utensils to the examination, including pencils, highlighters, and pens.

§         REFERENCE MATERIAL: 

§         For OPEN book ONLY examinations, published books, codes, tables, standards and ordinances may be used. 

§         Bound notes and mimeographed materials may be used.  Loose papers or papers held together by rubber bands or paper clips are NOT permitted.

§         TABS:  All tabs connected to reference materials must be permanently attached.  You may NOT use post-it notes, bookmarks, or other loose paper and items to mark pages.

§         Each candidate will be required to sign a statement that they will neither copy nor divulge any examination problem or solution, and that any violation thereof will be sufficient grounds for invalidating the candidate’s examination.

LUNCH

We suggest that you carry your lunch since restaurants are not always available and the lunch break is short.  Candidates will be asked to vacate the testing room during lunch.

 

NAME AND ADDRESS CHANGES

You will have the opportunity to submit any name or address changes at the examination site.  You may also submit your changes in writing to CASTLE Worldwide, Inc.  Please include proof of name change (i.e., marriage certificate) if you are requesting a name change.

 

RELEASE OF SCORE REPORTS

Allow up to 4 months from the examination date to receive your score report.  Score reports will only be mailed to the latest address you have submitted.  Under NO circumstances will scores be released via phone, fax, or Internet.  Please do not call CASTLE or the NY State Education Department in regard to your score report until 4 months after the examination date.

 

UNSUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

Re-examination information will be provided with your score report, if necessary.  There is no limit to the number of times you may take this examination in order to complete licensure.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL DISTRACTERS

Every attempt, within reason, is made to ensure a quiet and comfortable testing environment for all candidates.  However, last minute needs and emergencies by building operators cannot be anticipated.  We suggest that you bring appropriate clothing with you (i.e., sweat shirt) to help you adapt to a cooler or warmer climate in the examination room.  Bring ear plugs if you are very sensitive to noise distractions.
