New York State Education Department Division of Professional Licensing for Engineering
How To Register
If you have not yet been approved by the New York State Board for Engineering to sit for the upcoming examination, please visit http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/ to proceed with applying for eligibility to sit for the examination(s) with the New York State Board. If you have already been approved by the New York State Board for Engineering to test during the upcoming examination, to schedule for the examination(s) for which you have been already approved by the New York State Board, you are now required to register through the NCEES website at www.ncees.org. Instructions will be provided on the NCEES website for the registration for the April examination administration beginning in December, and for the October examination administration beginning in June.
After you register through NCEES, you will receive an email from Castle Worldwide, Inc., the testing company contracted by the NYSED to administer the examination, directing you to Castle's scheduling system so that you may submit the scheduling fee to Castle. If you do not schedule with NCEES and pay all necessary fees to Castle, you will not be scheduled to sit for the examination. There are no extensions to the NCEES published deadlines. Please remember it is your responsibility to complete this registration and payment process by the deadline. If you have any questions, please contact Castle at 1-800-655-4845 or 1-919-572-6880.
IMPORTANT: In order to be admitted into the examination, please be sure that your first and last name that your register under matches your first and last name EXACTLY as it appears on your current, government-issued photo ID with your date of birth and signature.
Castle will make every attempt, within reason, to seat candidates at the test site selected, though the selected test site is NOT guaranteed. Candidates will only be admitted to the test site for which they have been scheduled by Castle.
NCEES has begun transitioning some of the PE examination disciplines to computer-based format. Exams that have already transitioned to computer-based format are not offered by Castle. For more information on the format of your specific examination discipline, you may visit the following website for the conversion schedule: https://ncees.org/cbt. Any questions on this transition or exams that have already transitioned to computer-based format must be directed to NCEES.
Please note that all fees paid to Castle in relation to this examination application are nonrefundable after the NCEES registration deadline and are always nontransferable. Refund requests must be received in writing on or before the NCEES registration deadline; written requests may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. A $40.00 processing fee will be incurred for all examination cancellations. Requests received after the NCEES registration deadline will not be honored and failure to appear for your examination will result in the forfeiture of your scheduling fee. Candidates are responsible to verify that Castle has received the requests by the appropriate deadline.
Site and Exam Change Requests:
Site and Exam type changes must be completed by the registration deadline; there are no extensions to this deadline. Candidates are responsible for changing the Exam Site and/or Exam Type within their NCEES.org online registration account, and verifying that their account accurately reflects their intended Exam Site and Exam Type selections.
Schedule A Test
Candidates who have completed the registration and payment process, and are deemed eligible by the New York State Education Department will receive an email notification approximately two (2) weeks prior to the exam date with notification that the Exam Authorization is available for printing within their online NCEES.org account.
